Learn the cyanotype & photogram processes from a professional artist and educator in his own backyard! We’ll begin by hand-coating paper with a light sensitive emulsion, expose it to plant specimens and other objects found on a short nature walk, and process them on-site. Workshops can be booked with as little as 24 hours advanced notice & can accommodate 4-5 participants.
You’ll get to learn and appreciate these truly hands-on and analogue photo processes as well as explore the Canie Creek Greenway and its rich history in West Asheville. All supplies are included–just bring yourself, comfortable walking shoes and your curiosity.
At the conclusion of the workshop, each participant will leave with a handful of prints, a frame for displaying their new artwork, and all the necessary information to continue making cyanotypes at home. In addition, all workshop members are encouraged to reach out at any point for trouble-shooting & additional guidance.

“What a joyous and interesting experience! I do not consider myself artistic but Eric made me feel so comfortable and was so encouraging and patient, that I ended up being very happy with what I created.”
Michelle, workshop participant
“This workshop was definitely a highlight of my partner and I’s trip to Asheville! The workshop is very well structured and lead! You can tell that Eric has such a passion for education, art, and nature, and you get a bit of each in this.”
